Cafeteria CCTV

Officials claimed Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris brought their two propane tank bombs into the cafeteria at 11:14 A.M. when the custodian was changing the security tape. Jefferson County officials claimed they analyzed the cafeteria CCTV footage and did not see either suspect on the tape, so they must have brought the bombs in during the tape change. They also claimed that prior to the tape change, no bags were visible, and when the tape resumed, suddenly the bags were visible.

None of that is true.

Many years later, someone who has remained anonymous to this day identified both Harris and Klebold on the CCTV tape. Harris is seen at 10:58 A.M. carrying a visibly heavy bag, which he carries to the exact location where one of the bombs was found. He is seen heading back out one minute later empty-handed at 10:59 A.M. Immediately after Harris leaves the cafeteria, Klebold is seen carrying a large bag taking the same route through the cafeteria at 10:59 A.M. His exit was not captured on the tape.

Many researchers, along with Westword, wondered how police could have missed the two on the tape. Truth be told, the most likely answer is they didn’t miss catching the shooters planting the bombs. It makes more sense that investigators ignored it and made up the story about the bags suddenly appearing after the tape change to make the story of the 8 missing minutes caused by the tape change seem legitimate. Per his own interview, it didn't take the custodian 8 minutes to change the tape and he didn't get distracted by a phone call. That entire story was made up.
